Why do the sensor corners look hidden on a Sony A7R when viewed through the mount?

When looking into the lens mount, the Sony A7R seems to hide the corners of its full-frame sensor, while cameras like the Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D750 appear to show the whole sensor area. Does this mean the Sony mount is blocking part of the sensor or affecting image quality, or is it just a difference in camera design and what is visible when the lens is removed?

All three cameras have the same 36mm x 24mm sized image sensor.
The Sony A7R is a "MirrorLess" camera and when the lens is removed you can see the image sensor.
The Canon 5D Mk III and Nikon D750 are DSLR's and what you normally see is the mirror and viewfinder reflection.
If you flip up the mirror and open the shutter on the Canon or Nikon (as when cleaning the image sensor) they all look pretty much the same. The Nikon actually has the smallest diameter mount but that has no effect on image quality.

It does not indicate an image-quality problem. All three cameras use a full-frame 36×24mm sensor.
The main difference is camera design and what you’re actually seeing through the mount. The Sony A7R is mirrorless, so with the lens removed you are directly seeing the sensor area. On DSLR bodies like the Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D750, you normally see the mirror/shutter assembly rather than the sensor itself unless the mirror is raised and the shutter is opened, such as during sensor cleaning.
If you compare them in an equivalent state, they look much more similar. The visible corners being more or less obvious when looking through the mount does not mean part of the image is being blocked in normal use. Mount size alone also does not imply worse image quality.
