Why do bright white spots appear on my IP camera at night?

My IP camera shows bright white "ghost-like" spots at night and keeps triggering notifications. The only obvious light source is a window or light near the door/camera. Could this mean the camera is faulty, or is there another common cause for these blobs appearing in the image?

This seems to be some insect that is drawn to the light. Due to the closeness to the camera, it is out of focus and appears that big.

It’s unlikely the camera is faulty. The most likely cause is a small insect, such as a moth, flying very close to the camera and nearby light source at night. Because it is so close to the lens, it falls far out of focus and appears as a large bright white blob or "orb." The light near the camera makes this more obvious and can also trigger motion alerts. If it only happens at night and near a light source, that strongly points to insects rather than a sensor problem.
