Which Yongnuo RF-605 trigger version works on a Panasonic GH4?

I want to use Yongnuo RF-605 radio triggers on a Panasonic GH4. Should I buy the Canon version (RF-605C) or the Nikon version (RF-605N)? I assume the main difference is in the extra hot-shoe contacts rather than the mount itself. Will either version fire flashes correctly on the GH4, and is there any reason to prefer one over the other?

Either trigger will work.
The hotshoe on the gh4 is the same as on any Nikon/Canon SLR for the purposes of flash triggering. The extra contacts are to support fancy features (like TTL metering, zooming the flash, telling the camera the flash is recharged, etc.) and are not used to actually fire the flashes.
The reason there are two versions is that Nikon/Canon flashes have a "standby" mode for their flashes which will power them down after a certain amount of time to extend battery life. The different versions of the transmitter work with these different systems to allow you to use "standby" mode on your remote flashes. This will not work on your gh4 with either version but it is not a great loss.

Either the RF-605C or RF-605N will fire flashes from a Panasonic GH4.
For basic flash triggering, the GH4 uses the standard center hot-shoe contact, so the Canon/Nikon-specific extra pins are not needed. Those extra contacts are mainly for brand-specific features such as TTL-related communication or remote wake/standby behavior on compatible Canon or Nikon flashes.
On the GH4, those brand-specific functions generally won’t matter, so either version should work for manual radio triggering.
