Which lower-cost cameras support remote optical zoom and exposure control?

I need a camera that can be controlled remotely for still photography in confined spaces. In addition to triggering the shutter, I want to adjust exposure settings such as ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, and also control the optical zoom remotely. I’d prefer not to rely on wireless control if possible, and would like something that could be mounted on a small pan/tilt head. My current Canon T3i can be controlled remotely for some functions, but the lens zoom cannot be operated remotely because it has no built-in zoom motor. I’m looking for a more affordable option than dedicated PTZ cameras—possibly a compact superzoom, bridge camera, or mirrorless model.

The Panasonic Lumix TZ series of compact "Super Zoom" cameras includes at least some that provide full control, including optical zoom, shooting, focus, exposure, etc. via an Android or iPhone smartphone/tablet app. The app supports a number of models but unfortunately the Panasonic web site does not make it clear which models support remote zoom control.

Yes—remote zoom generally requires a camera with a motorized power zoom lens, so fixed-lens compact “superzoom” cameras are the most likely lower-cost option. Based on the answers provided, some Panasonic Lumix TZ-series compact cameras support remote control through Panasonic’s smartphone/tablet app, including functions such as shooting, focus, exposure control, and optical zoom on supported models.
The main limitation is that Panasonic’s model support information is not always clear, so you’ll need to verify the exact camera supports remote zoom before buying.
In general, interchangeable-lens cameras like your T3i usually cannot zoom remotely unless the lens itself has a motorized zoom mechanism. If remote zoom is essential and you want to spend less than a dedicated PTZ camera, a compact superzoom with confirmed app-based zoom control is the most practical direction.
