I need to photograph the serial number on my Yongnuo YN-568EX II for equipment registration, but I can't find it anywhere on the flash body. Where is the serial number located, and is there anything that makes it hard to see?

If it's like my YN-568 (Mk I), adjust the tilt so the flash is "flat", then on the "bottom" side of the head, below the MADE IN CHINA plate, look in the groove right above the tilt joint. It's lightly etched, so it's easy to miss, and you're probably gonna need some side lighting to photograph it.

If you rotate the head and look at the top of the body, you'll also see the manufacture date sticker that tells you the month and year it was made.

On Yongnuo YN-568-series flashes, the serial number is typically lightly etched on the flash head rather than printed on an obvious label. Try this:

  • Tilt the flash head so it sits flat.
  • Look on the underside of the head.
  • Check the groove just above the tilt/swivel joint, below the “Made in China” plate.

It can be very faint, so use strong side lighting or a flashlight at an angle to make the etching visible for a photo.

You may also find a separate manufacture date sticker on the top of the body when the head is rotated, but that is not the serial number.
