Feisol’s Rapid models use redesigned leg locks and non-rotating leg sections. In practice, that mainly means quicker setup, teardown, and leg adjustment.

The non-Rapid models (often the older “classic” versions) are still solid tripods, but they’re slower to deploy because the leg sections can rotate while you’re adjusting them. If speed and convenience matter to you—such as for travel, frequent repositioning, or fast-changing shooting situations—the Rapid design is the more user-friendly option.

If you find a non-Rapid/classic model at a better price, it can still be a good choice; they’re generally well-regarded, and the lower cost may reflect that those older versions were discontinued rather than being poor quality.

So the decision is mostly about whether faster handling is worth the extra money to you.
