I lost the front cap for my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens. I found a 69mm lens diameter listed online, but I can only find 67mm replacement caps for sale. Which size front lens cap do I need?

The filter size is what you need to know, which for that lens is 67mm.
The Nikon brand lens cap is the 67 mm snap-on Front Lens Cap LC-67.

You need a 67mm front lens cap. The 69mm figure refers to the outside diameter of the lens body, not the cap or filter thread size. Front lens caps are matched to the lens’s filter thread size, and for the Nikon AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR that size is 67mm. Nikon’s matching cap is the LC-67 snap-on front lens cap.
