I found an unusual square filter in an old camera bag. It fits a Cokin holder, and unlike the other filters I found, this one isn’t labeled. The filter surface is shaped like a shallow pyramid with a circular hole through the center. What kind of effect does this filter create, and what is it called?

It looks like a multi-image, aka kaleidoscope filter - specifically a Cokin #201 - I can't tell whether it's an A or a P; they're the same but different sizes.

I can't find any reference to it any more on Cokin, apparently it's long out of production, but I can find many on eBay searching just 'cokin 201' - examples

This is the box artwork, as an example of the image it produces

It’s most likely a Cokin multi-image, or “kaleidoscope,” filter—specifically the Cokin 201 type. These filters use angled surfaces to split and repeat parts of the scene, creating multiple mirrored images around the frame. The center hole allows an undistorted central area while the shaped outer sections create the repeating effect. Cokin made these in different holder sizes (such as A and P), with the effect being the same and only the physical size differing. This type of filter appears to be discontinued, which is why it may be hard to find in current catalogs.
