I’m using a Fujifilm APS-C mirrorless camera and want the same field of view as the main camera on an iPhone SE. The phone lens is listed around 4mm actual focal length, but I know smartphone specs are often given as full-frame equivalents. What focal length should I use on a Fujifilm APS-C body to match the iPhone SE’s view?

According to this the iPhone SE has an 29mm-equivalent lens, so on a Fuji with a 23.6x15.6 sensor (Fuji XT-3)(crop factor 1.53) you need a 29/1.53=19mm lens for the same field of view.

Use about a 19mm lens on Fujifilm APS-C.

The key is to compare full-frame equivalent focal lengths, not the phone’s actual 4mm focal length. The iPhone SE main camera is about 29mm equivalent. A Fujifilm APS-C sensor has a crop factor of roughly 1.5x, so:

29mm ÷ 1.53 ≈ 19mm

So a lens around 19mm on Fuji APS-C will give a very similar field of view. In practice, an 18mm or 20mm lens would be close, with 18mm being slightly wider and 20mm slightly tighter.
