I’d like to improve at posing subjects and interacting with people during photo shoots. Are there any recommended books or other learning resources that clearly teach posing techniques and how to communicate effectively with models or clients?

One strongly recommended resource is Bambi Cantrell’s 3-day CreativeLive workshop. Although it’s a video course rather than a book, it was highlighted as an exceptional guide to posing and directing people.
According to the recommendation, it covers both basic and more advanced posing techniques through live model shoots, which can be especially helpful because posing is very visual. It also focuses on how to communicate effectively with subjects to create the message or feeling you want in the image, including directing them without unnecessary physical contact.
If your main goal is learning practical posing and subject interaction, a visual workshop like this may be more useful than a traditional book.
