Software to split a panorama into multiple standard-size prints

I have a panoramic image with an aspect ratio around 9:2, and I’d like to print it as several standard-size photos that can be joined together afterward. For example, a 9:2 panorama could be divided into three 3:2 sections and printed separately, then stitched into one long print.

Is there software that can automatically tile or slice a panorama this way for printing, rather than cropping each section manually?

If I were doing this, I'd just use one of the several Internet services that can print big panoramas directly, with no stitching - no seams, and no hassle of assembling. If you choose a shop with good color calibration, you can be confident the results will look as you expect.

It's not for everyone, of course (some people really like to print themselves), but worth considering IMO.

Yes. Look for panorama software with a print-tiling or poster-print feature. Many panorama creation programs can also split a finished panoramic image into multiple printable sections automatically, so you don’t have to crop each panel by hand.

If your goal is simply to get a large panorama on paper, another good option is to use a lab or online print service that prints panoramas directly. That avoids visible seams and the extra work of aligning and assembling separate prints, and a well-calibrated shop can give more predictable color.

So the practical choices are:

  • use panorama software that supports tiled printing, or
  • send the file to a service that prints panoramas in one piece.
