Is the battery icon in the Canon 70D viewfinder supposed to have a gap?

On my Canon 70D, the battery icon shown in the viewfinder/top display has a small open gap in it. It doesn’t affect use, but I’m wondering whether that is normal or if it indicates a manufacturing defect.
