Is slight rotational play in a Fujifilm X-E1 lens mount normal?

My new Fujifilm X-E1 with the XF 18-55mm has a very small amount of movement once the lens is mounted. If I twist it firmly, the lens rotates back and forth by less than about half a millimeter, but it still locks securely and the camera works normally. Is this slight play typical for Fuji X-mount bayonet lenses, or is it a sign I should seek warranty service?

An issue you encounter is a normal thing - happens in nearly every bayonet. There are several reasons for that, most notably: manufacturing tolerances.

A slight amount of rotational play in a mounted lens is generally normal. Most bayonet lens mounts have a tiny bit of movement because of normal manufacturing tolerances. If the lens clicks in, stays locked securely, and the camera functions properly, a very small back-and-forth movement like you describe is usually not a defect.

What would be more concerning is excessive looseness, wobble, poor locking, intermittent camera/lens communication, or changes in image alignment. But based on your description, this sounds like typical bayonet mount behavior rather than something that needs repair.
