How can I view and convert my phone’s RAW files on Linux?

I have RAW image files from a phone using the MTK6589 chipset, and on Linux I can’t find software that will open or convert them. Automatic apps don’t recognize the files, and the only workaround I’ve found is IrfanView under Wine. Is there a Linux-native way to view or convert these RAW files? I’ve heard LibRaw development builds may support this format, but not all released software does yet.

LibRaw supports this format (current development trunk).

So, you may use any LibRaw-based software (digiKam or so), but you'll need to update/recompile LibRaw and software that using it.

Yes—if the format is supported by the current LibRaw development branch, the practical Linux solution is to use software built on LibRaw, such as digiKam, with an updated LibRaw version. If your distro’s packaged version is too old, you may need to compile a newer LibRaw yourself and then rebuild or update the application that depends on it. In short, the issue is likely not Linux itself but that your phone’s RAW format is new or uncommon, so released converters may lag behind until official support is added.
