How can I print full-size on a Canon SELPHY CP1300 without unwanted cropping?

I’m printing smartphone photos to 10×15 cm (4×6) paper on a Canon SELPHY CP1300. My phone images use a different aspect ratio than the paper, so with Borderless printing the printer/app crops part of the image, but with Bordered printing it adds larger borders than I want.
Is there a way to print the image as large as possible without losing any of the photo—ideally fitting it to the 4×6 page with only the minimal side borders required by the aspect-ratio difference, and without permanently editing the original image?

Use the editor in the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY mobile app. Cropping in the app's editor will not crop the image file in your camera roll.
When you've selected the image and are at the Print button window:
- Tap the Edit image button.
- Tap on the crop icon button at the bottom of the screen.
- Set the Crop checkbox.
- Tap Crop size.
- Select the paper size you're using, 4"x6" 10x15cm.
- Select the appropriate crop orientation radio button.
- Close the tab.
- Tap Back.
- Check that you have set the Border to Borderless. If you haven't, tap Change Settings to access the Border setting and change it.
- Tap Print.

Yes. The key is to use the app’s image layout/crop tools rather than relying only on the basic Borderless/Bordered setting.
In the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app, open the image, tap Edit image, then use the crop tool and set the crop size to the paper size you’re using (4×6 / 10×15 cm). This adjustment is done for printing and does not change the original photo in your camera roll. Then print with Borderless if you want the image scaled to the paper size.
If you specifically want the whole photo preserved and fit to the page, Canon’s Selphy Layout app offers a “fit to page”-style workflow that may work better for this than the main Canon PRINT app.
If Canon’s app still doesn’t give the result you want, a workaround is to resize/export the image to 4×6 proportions in a separate app before printing. That avoids unexpected cropping, though it is an extra step.
