How can I get a Lightroom lens profile for a Tokina 11-16mm?

I use a Nikon D90 with a Tokina 11-16mm lens. Lightroom doesn’t seem to include built-in Tokina lens profiles the way it does for many other brands. Why might that be, and what are my options for adding or finding a profile for this lens?

No one seems to supply those and would be prohibitively expensive to create general ones because you would need a lot of copies of the lens to account for variations and quality control issues.

However, you can create one that will work for your own lens and camera combination using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator.

Lightroom may not include a built-in profile for every third-party lens, including some Tokina models. One reason is that creating accurate general profiles can be difficult, since lenses can vary from copy to copy.

You still have a few options:

  1. Create your own profile for your exact camera-and-lens combination using Adobe Lens Profile Creator. This is the most tailored option.
  2. Look for a community-submitted profile using Adobe’s Lens Profile Downloader. These profiles can work well, but quality may vary.
  3. Try a user-made profile shared online, but be careful to match the correct mount and lens version. A profile made for a Canon-mount version may not be ideal for your Nikon setup and could need tweaking.

If you want the best correction accuracy, making a custom profile for your own Tokina 11-16mm on your D90 is the safest approach.
