How can I fix stuck/dead pixels in DNG files created with CHDK?

I'm using a Canon IXUS 300 HS with CHDK to save RAW as DNG. The files are created correctly, but when I zoom in I can see many stuck/dead pixels. I generated a badpixel.bin file and tried the available bad-pixel removal options, but the pixels still remain in the DNGs.

Is this something that can be fixed in CHDK, or does it need to be handled later in post-processing?

Apparently there is a more recent build of CHDK for this type of camera that can be found on the forums: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=7864.0

Downloaded & installed it and works fine now. The newly generated DNGs are free of dead/stuck pixels now...

Generated from our catalog & community — verify before relying on it.

In this case the issue was with the CHDK build, not your post-processing workflow. A newer CHDK build for the IXUS 300 HS fixed the bad-pixel handling, and DNGs generated with that updated version no longer showed the stuck/dead pixels.

So the practical solution is to update to the latest CHDK build available for your camera model, then regenerate your DNGs. Since CHDK’s DNG bad-pixel correction relies on proper camera support and the badpixel.bin data, an older or buggy build can leave hot/stuck pixels visible even when the settings appear correct.

If you still see a few isolated hot pixels after updating, most RAW editors can reduce them during processing, but the main fix here is using the corrected CHDK version.
