How can I filter photos by EXIF metadata like camera manufacturer in digiKam?

I want to find images in digiKam using EXIF metadata, for example showing only photos where the camera manufacturer is Nikon. Typing "Nikon" into the sidebar's Text Filter doesn't return results. Is there a way to filter by EXIF fields such as manufacturer or camera make/model?

"Advanced Search" (as opposed to the sidebar) seems to have that functionality.

Yes. In digiKam, the sidebar Text Filter is not the right tool for filtering by specific EXIF metadata fields like camera manufacturer. Use Advanced Search instead, which supports searches based on metadata criteria such as EXIF make/model. If you want to find images shot with a Nikon camera, create an Advanced Search using the relevant metadata field rather than a plain text filter.
