How can I adjust photo capture times by 12 hours in Lightroom when AM/PM isn’t shown?

I changed my camera’s clock by 12 hours for a different time zone, and now I need to correct the capture times on earlier photos. Lightroom doesn’t seem to show AM/PM in the Metadata panel, Grid cell labels, or the Edit Capture Time dialog. How can I tell whether a photo is AM or PM, and what’s the best way to shift selected photos by 12 hours?

This might depend on your locality settings. In mine it shows 6:15 PM as 18:15 (exactly how I like it).

The easiest way to see this is to press I. Going into Loupe view (E) in the Metadata tab, next to Capture Time there is a small button. Press it and you get "Edit Capture Time". There select Timezone Adjust to change by 12 hours.

The metadata panel has to be in "default" mode (others like IPTC and EXIF will also work).

To do the adjustment on multiple images, select them all and then go into Loupe view.

Generated from our catalog & community — verify before relying on it.

Lightroom may not show AM/PM explicitly because time display often follows your system or locale settings. In many setups it uses 24-hour time instead, so 6:15 PM appears as 18:15.

To check and correct the time:

  • Open a photo in Loupe view (E).
  • Press I to show the info overlay.
  • In the Metadata panel, use the Default view (EXIF may also work).
  • Next to Capture Time, click the small button to open Edit Capture Time.
  • Choose Timezone Adjust and shift the time by 12 hours.

If you need to fix multiple photos, select them first, then go to Loupe view and apply the same adjustment.

So the key point is that Lightroom may not use AM/PM at all—it may display time in 24-hour format based on your locale—but you can still verify the capture time and batch-shift it using Timezone Adjust.
