I'm choosing between the Sigma 10-20mm and Sigma 8-16mm for APS-C. I prefer the 8-16mm focal range, but its bulbous front element makes normal screw-in filters difficult, and I use ND filters often.
I’ve read that the Sigma 8-16mm front cap/adapter has 72mm threads, but using filters there can cause severe vignetting or even show the adapter in the frame at the widest settings. I’ve also seen mentions of larger square-filter systems such as Lee or Cokin, and even DIY options.
Are there any sample images showing the Sigma 8-16mm used with ND or other filters, and is a square-filter setup the practical way to do it?

Read here - they use a Cokin filter set that may be considerably less than the Lee holder..
Sigma 8-16mm, commercial available and D.I.Y filter options.
There is also a sample image at the bottom of that which was taken with a coloured filter on this lens.
