I have an Olympus E-520 Four Thirds DSLR and I know there are adapters that let you mount Four Thirds lenses on Micro Four Thirds cameras. Is there any adapter that works the other way around, so I could use a Micro Four Thirds lens on a Four Thirds body while still focusing normally?

No.*

The micro four thirds to four thirds adaptor is basically a tube which mounts the four thirds lens further from the sensor.

In order to do the reverse you would have to mount the micro four thirds lens closer to the sensor, which is not possible as there is stuff in the way!

*at least whilst preserving the ability to focus at moderate distances.

No, not for normal use.

Micro Four Thirds and Four Thirds share the same sensor format, but Micro Four Thirds lenses are designed for a much shorter flange distance (the lens sits closer to the sensor). That’s why adapting a Four Thirds lens to a Micro Four Thirds body is possible: the adapter is essentially a spacer tube.

Going the other direction would require placing the Micro Four Thirds lens closer to the sensor than a Four Thirds DSLR body allows. The camera’s mirror box and mount geometry are physically in the way, so an adapter cannot preserve normal focusing distances.

In practice, there is no straightforward adapter for using Micro Four Thirds lenses on a Four Thirds body with normal focus capability.
