Can the Nikon D5000 shoot an exposure bracket as a burst?

On a Nikon D5000, I can enable AE bracketing, but right now I have to press the shutter separately for each of the three bracketed frames. Is there a way to have the camera take the full bracket sequence automatically with one press, such as in continuous/burst mode or with the self-timer?

I believe you'll need to set the 'release mode' in your camera to 'Continuous' to get it to burst the three shots.
Also, reportedly, if your camera is on a self timer it will also take the three shots in a single button press after the time delay.

Yes. On the Nikon D5000, AE bracketing can be shot as a sequence with one press if you use the right release mode. Set the camera to Continuous release mode and hold the shutter button; it should fire the bracketed frames in succession. You can also use the self-timer, which should take the full bracketed sequence after the delay with a single press. If you're in single-shot release mode, the camera will typically require a separate press for each bracketed exposure.
