Can Lightroom move the Develop side panels to the top and bottom on a portrait-oriented monitor?

I use Lightroom with my display rotated to portrait orientation. In the Develop module, the left and right side panels take up a lot of space and make the image area smaller than I'd like. Can Lightroom reposition those side panels horizontally at the top and bottom of the screen instead? If not, are there any built-in ways to reduce how much space they use?

Unfortunately, you cannot move the sidebar (both the left preset and right processing) bars on top of bottom. You can rather adjust their pane length and also show/hide them if necessary. The main reason they could not give this option is, there is already other panels situated at the bottom of the panel - the photo roll panel at the bottom, where you can choose any photo in the selection anytime. And the filter panel at the top - with which you can sort and filter the current selection of photos in the developer mode.

No. In Lightroom’s Develop module, the left and right side panels cannot be moved to the top and bottom of the screen. Lightroom’s layout keeps those editing panels on the sides.
What you can do instead is:
- resize the panel widths
- collapse or hide the side panels when needed
- use the existing top and bottom areas for their normal functions, such as filtering and the filmstrip
So while portrait monitor use can make the image area feel cramped, Lightroom does not offer a horizontal relocation option for the Develop sidebars.
