Can leaving a Nikon D3300 switched on for days damage it?

I accidentally left my Nikon D3300 turned on in its bag for a couple of days, and this has happened a few times before. Could leaving a DSLR on for that long cause any damage, malfunction, or long-term problems, or is the main issue just battery drain?

It's fine. Your camera will go into a low power sleep mode. I know people who never use the off switch and leave their cameras in this state all the time. Your battery may run down a little faster than otherwise, but that's it.

It’s very unlikely to have harmed the camera. A Nikon D3300, like most modern DSLRs, will typically enter a low-power sleep mode when it isn’t being used, and may also auto-shut off after a period of inactivity depending on your settings.
The main downside is battery drain. If the battery gets very low, the camera should protect itself by going into low-power mode and then shutting down. In the worst case, you may end up with a fully discharged battery that needs recharging before the camera will turn on again.
So: no, this should not cause physical damage or long-term malfunction just from being left switched on occasionally. If it happens often, check the camera’s auto power-off/sleep settings to reduce battery drain.
