My Manfrotto compact ball head is getting hard to tighten fully because the locking lever hits the tripod joints before I can lock it down completely. Is there a way to change or reposition the lever so the locked position lands in a different spot?

Their site suggests that you can pull the lever outwards so that you can clear obstructions. Have you tried that?

Yes. On Manfrotto compact ball heads, the locking lever is typically designed to be repositioned. Try pulling the lever outward slightly, then rotating it to a new position so it clears the tripod joints, and release it. That should let you tighten the head properly without the lever being blocked. If it still won’t hold the camera steady after repositioning, the head may be worn or need service.
