Can a Nikon D5300 show Live View on both its LCD and a computer at the same time?

I want to use my Nikon D5300 in Live View and mirror that feed to my computer, while still keeping Live View visible on the camera’s own rear screen. I’ve tried looking at options such as digiCamControl, Nikon software, and even external casting ideas, but haven’t found a way to make both displays work simultaneously. Is this possible on the D5300, or is there a limitation with this camera line?

With Nikon D3x00 series and D5x00 series cameras you can't. Apparently it is hardware limitation. Other Nikon models may also be affected by the same limitation.
Bottom line: If you want to view Live View via both an external monitor and the camera's LCD at the same time, Nikon is probably not the way to go.

On the Nikon D5300, this generally is not possible. The Nikon D3x00 and D5x00 series are commonly limited so that Live View can be shown either on the camera screen or on an external/tethered display, but not both at the same time. Community experience points to this being a hardware/firmware limitation rather than something a different app can fix.
So if digiCamControl or Nikon’s own software disables the camera LCD when Live View is sent to the computer, that is expected behavior for this model line.
In short: for a D5300, you should assume simultaneous Live View on both the camera LCD and a PC is not supported.
