Can a damaged Canon T6s (760D) be useful for spare parts for a Canon 80D?

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T6s / 760D that was damaged in a fall and no longer works. It also has some dead pixels, so I’m not planning to repair it. Before I sell it for parts, I’m wondering whether it makes sense to keep it as a donor body for my Canon 80D. Do these two cameras share enough interchangeable parts to make that worthwhile?

They could share the same sensor (24.2mp), mount ring, screws, stuff like that. The LCD specs are the same, so could be compatible. The mirror assembly and shutter are probably different because the specs are different.

Even if there are significant usable parts, are you capable of swapping them yourself? Suppose you swapped the sensor, are you able to realign it for correct focus? If not, you're better off getting what you can from anyone who's willing to buy it. This would be the case even if you had two copies of the same model.

Possibly, but probably not enough to justify keeping it unless you can do camera repair yourself.

The T6s/760D and 80D may share some basic parts, such as the 24.2 MP sensor, the lens mount ring, screws, and possibly the LCD since the screen specifications are similar. However, key assemblies like the mirror box and shutter are likely different because the cameras have different performance specs.

The bigger issue is usability: even if a part physically fits, many internal camera parts require precise alignment and calibration. For example, replacing a sensor is not just a simple swap if you want autofocus and focus plane accuracy to remain correct.

So unless you have the skills and tools to diagnose, transplant, and align parts yourself, a damaged T6s is unlikely to be a practical backup-parts source for an 80D. In most cases, it makes more sense to sell it as-is to a technician or parts buyer.
