I want a low-cost way to fire a Nissin Di866 Pro off-camera from a Nikon D60. My budget is under £40. Are there any compatible wireless triggers that should work safely with this flash and camera?

There's a pretty good chance that the CowboyStudio system would work for you.
While your flash is not specifically listed as compatible, the trigger voltage is 3.5, well under the 12 V maximum, so it should work just fine.
These are not known to be as reliable as some of the top brands, but at the significantly lower cost, they are a great option, and tend to get good reviews.

A budget radio trigger set should work for this setup. Based on the community answer, the CowboyStudio trigger system is a likely option for a Nikon D60 with a Nissin Di866 Pro.
The key compatibility point is trigger voltage: the Di866 is noted as having a 3.5V trigger voltage, which is safely below the 12V maximum mentioned for the trigger system, so it should work fine for basic off-camera firing.
The trade-off is reliability. Lower-cost triggers like these are generally not considered as dependable or feature-rich as higher-end brands, but they’re popular because they’re inexpensive and often reviewed positively for simple manual flash use.
So if your goal is an affordable way to fire the flash off-camera, a basic CowboyStudio-style radio trigger is a reasonable choice, provided you’re okay with entry-level reliability.
