Riverfront park on South King Street at the old Hugg's Tavern site, where Betsy Ross married John Ross in 1773. It looks straight across the Delaware at the Philadelphia port.
Freedom Pier
Pier at King and Cumberland Streets, right under the Walt Whitman Bridge, with a wide brick walkway around the edge. It was rebuilt in 2010. A 2023 plan proposed apartments on the pier, so check that it is open before you go.
Gloucester City Water Works Engine House
Engine house at Johnson Boulevard and Gaunt Street, built in 1883 for the city's first water system. It is the oldest public building in the city, still used by the water department, and on the National Register since 1998. The Walt Whitman Bridge is in view.
Thomas Eakins painted Shad-Fishing at Gloucester on the Delaware River here in 1881, and one version hangs in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
