The Sony 50mm f/1.8 Lens is the right prime lens for portrait and point-and-shoot photography with your Sony E-mount camera. This prime lens uses 9 elements in 8 groups. Thanks to the wide aperture opening, the lens offers a shallow depth of field and ability to take bright pictures at night. The lens has an internal focusing mechanism that gives a fast and responsive focus down to a minimum distance of 1.3 feet. As the 7 blades of the aperture are rounded, a smooth bokeh is created in the background. The Optical SteadyShot image stabilization reduces the effects of camera shakes. Also, you can combine the image stabilization with the camera's sensor-shift technology to get additional control over the camera blur. The front 49mm thread accepts circular filters.
