Overview

The Tamron 180mm F3.5 SP AF Di LD (IF) 1:1 Macro Lens is a high-performance telephoto macro lens that works equally well in the field or in the studio. This lens produces soft out-of-focus background effects and has a high contrast, outstanding image quality. This outstanding image quality is maintained at all distances, plus it has an extra long working distance for unsurpassed subject access. An advanced optical design which incorporates special LD glass and internal focusing (IF), a handy Filter Effect Control (FEC) ring and an AF/MF ring are some of the features incorporated into this lens making it a superb choice for macro photography.

The "Di" feature (Digitally Integrated Design), is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The (IF) system is what maintains the overall length of the lens during focusing. It uses two LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements that effectively compensate for chromatic aberration. Provides high-contrast, outstanding image quality and a soft out-of-focus background effect. The AF/MF is an one touch switchover mechanism which is built into the focus ring (for Canon & Nikon only).  The (SP) means the lens is from the Super performance series which provides high performance through its' outstanding design specifications. The new (FEC)Filter Effect Control function is what enhances the operational ease of using a Polarizing Filter.It is designed to rotate the filter to the desired position while the hood is attached. This is accomplished by turning the FEC ring that in turn rotates the portion of the filter mount where the filter is mounted.
