Overview

Create a portfolio of the most-cherished scenes and sights with the Sony Alpha a7 III Mirrorless Digital Camera. Be it photography or videography, this camera offers just the right features and effects to enhance your work. For starters, it is designed with a 24.2 MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor that teams up with the BIONZ X image processor for rendering 10 fps burst shots. The updated Fast Hybrid AF System brings together 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points for better focusing, regardless of the lighting conditions. Moreover, this digital camera has a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift image stabilization system that reduces shakes by up to 5 stops. This Sony camera runs on an NP-FZ100 rechargeable Li-ion battery and is weather-sealed for convenient use in unfavorable conditions.

Optics and Focus

The Alpha a7 III camera from Sony boasts an improved Fast Hybrid AF System that uses a combination of 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points for faster autofocus and subject tracking. You may club the autofocus with the Focus Magnifier mode when minutely focusing on the finer details of a scene. In addition, the touchscreen LCD at the back of the camera can be used for Touch Focus control. And, the Touchpad Focus Control mode enables the use of the touchscreen while using the viewfinder. This mirrorless camera operates at a shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second and offers an ISO sensitivity range of 100–51200 that can be extended to 50–204800. Moreover, it features Highlight and Average metering modes that eliminate blown-out highlights and provide a stable auto-exposure, respectively.

Sensor and Screen

The Alpha a7 III digital camera from Sony has a full-frame 24.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that teams up with the BIONZ X image processor for producing high-resolution images and videos without noise. This digital camera features a 2.36m-dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder that allows 0.78× magnification and enables the use of the Focus Magnifier mode for convenient manual focus operation. As an alternative, the 3-inch 922K tilting touchscreen LCD at the back offers seamless media viewing and tweaking of settings, apart from allowing high- and low-angle shooting. Both the EVF and the screen provide 100% coverage.

Images and Videos

The Sony Alpha a7 III camera is designed to shoot crystal clear UHD 4K movies at up to 30 fps. Moreover, with the help of 2.4× oversampling, the camera ensures impressive detail and full-pixel readout sans binning, which results in enhanced image quality with reduced moiré and aliasing. Those who love their videos in Full HD can make merry with the continuous recording feature of up to 120 fps, which also enables 4× and 5× slow-motion captures when the frame rate is set to 30p or 24p. With the 24 MP sensor, this camera can shoot images in a high resolution of 6000×4000 pixels. In addition, it supports burst shooting at 10 fps to capture 89 RAW and 177 JPEG images. This Sony camera takes care of up to five types of shakes with the help of the built-in 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system. This system enables using this camera with almost any lens, without any blurring.

Other Features

Thanks to the weather-sealed magnesium-alloy chassis, this lightweight Sony digital camera is durable and stable, and resists moisture and dust. A single charge of the NP-FZ100 Li-ion battery facilitates capturing of over 700 shots. Also, this digital camera features dual SD card slots and a USB 3.0 Type-C port, and connects to WiFi and Bluetooth for hassle-free sharing of images and videos to other compatible devices. For quick and easy post-production of your captured images, you may use the Ratings function with a 1–5 star rating.
