A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

Compose and shoot photos in an effortless manner with the Sigma dp1 Quattro Digital Camera and LVF-01 Viewfinder Kit. It boasts a 29 MP Foveon X3 Quattro Direct CMOS image sensor, which combines with the TRUE III image-processing engine for capturing color information vertically, rather than horizontally. This means that all pixels contain immensely accurate color information, which helps in delivering smooth gradations and rich tones. The included LVF-01 LCD viewfinder provides a 2.5× magnification for viewing distant subjects with amazing clarity. For a flexible shooting experience, the focus of the lens can be adjusted by activating the contrast-detect autofocus function or manually with the focusing ring.

Optics and Focus

The Sigma dp1 Quattro Digital Camera includes a 19mm f/2.8 lens, whose optics are made of nine elements in eight groups. The lens also provides a filter thread diameter of 58mm and a minimum focus distance of 7.87 inches. The ISO sensitivity can be adjusted between 100 and 6,400, while the maximum shutter speed stands at 1/2,000th of a second. You may focus on subjects manually by means of the focusing ring or by activating the contrast-detect autofocus function. The exposure-metering, exposure, and white-balance modes are essential for a variety of shooting scenarios.

Sensor and Screen

This Sigma camera’s 29 MP Foveon X3 Quattro Direct CMOS image sensor helps capture high-quality pictures with smooth gradations, accurate colors, and rich tones. The 3-inch, TFT LCD screen provides a resolution of 920,000 dots for accessing menus and reviewing the captured pictures with immense clarity. The included LVF-01 LCD viewfinder, which offers a 2.5× magnification, comes in handy for effortlessly viewing scenes, even in ambient-lighting situations.

Image and Video

The dp1 Quattro from Sigma lets you capture RAW and JPEG photos at outstanding resolutions of 5424×3616 pixels and 7680×3296 pixels, respectively. The TRUE III image-processing engine is capable of rendering photos at a rapid speed, with excellent quality.

Other Features

The Sigma dp1 Quattro Digital Camera’s various color modes let you get creative with your pictures. The inbuilt hot shoe is useful for mounting an external flash in order to take bright photos of scenes, even in dimly lit areas. If the camera’s internal memory gets full, you can expand it by inserting an SDHC, SDXC, or SD card. Powering this unconventional camera is a long-lasting BP-51 rechargeable Lithium-ion battery pack.
