Key Features
In this course, Mike Peters will discuss techniques for photographing on the street and dealing with the fear of photographing strangers. The two main approaches are shoot first, or ask first. They each have their place depending on what your goal is, and the situation at hand. We'll look at a variety of images that show both approaches.
In addition, we will touch on photographic techniques, along with the legal and ethical issues surrounding photographing in public. Most importantly, we will discuss how your attitude can help or hinder your success.

MIKE PETERSI have been a professional photographer since 1979, shooting for corporations, magazines, newspapers book publishers and educational institutions. Currently I am the Director of Photographic Services at Montclair State University where I've worked on staff since 2000, and produce stills and video for all marketing and editorial usage, along with documenting events.
My street work has always been done as personal projects, and it has been the most challenging, frustrating and ultimately the most satisfying work that I have done. Inspiration comes from the people I see, and what I perceive about them. I have learned much about myself and my fellow humans during my brief interactions on the street.
