    OVERVIEW

Nikon's NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens is a versatile, zoom-lens, designed for FX-format, Z-mount, mirrorless cameras, & features a f/2.8 maximum aperture, for consistent performance, throughout the entire zoom-range. Though the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm is designed for FX-format, mirrorless cameras, it can be used with DX-format models, where it will provide a 105-300mm equivalent focal-length range.

The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm's constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, also benefits working in difficult lighting-conditions, & enables the use of selective-focusing techniques. With a combination of 6x extra-low dispersion elements, one fluorite element, & one short-wave, refractive-index element, chromatic aberrations & color fringing is greatly reduced, to provide notable clarity, & color accuracy. Two aspherical elements are featured, to reduce spherical aberrations & distortion, which provides an improvement in sharpness, & accurate rendering.

The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm features a Multi-Focus System, which incorporates 2x AF drive-units, which are synchronized, to deliver a fast & accurate focusing performance, throughout the zoom range. The system uses stepping motors, for a smooth & quiet performance, making it great for video-recording applications, & full-time manual focus override is supported. An internal focusing-design is used, allowing the lens to maintain its overall length, during use, to provide a faster focusing performance.

A Programmable Control Ring is featured, to control exposure compensation, or aperture, & by default, to adjust manual focusing. Two assignable L.Fn buttons are featured, to work in conjunction with the camera-based function buttons, to enable a quick way to change exposure, & other functions. The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm features a specialized, electromagnetic, aperture-mechanism, which provides greater control over exposure. This is especially beneficial during the use of fast, continuous shooting rates.

Vibration Reduction I.S. (Image Stabilization) is featured, in the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm's design, to reduce the appearance of camera-shake, & provide a better handheld-shooting experience, in low-light conditions. An integrated OLED panel is featured, to display the status of your aperture, focusing distance, & depth of field, in both bright, & dark shooting conditions.

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens features ARNEO & Nano Crystal Coats, to prevent flare & ghosting, while improving the contrast & clarity of your images. The lens features a dust, & moisture-resistant lens barrel, as well as a front-fluorine coating. A removable, rotating tripod-collar, which spins on ball-bearings, is featured, to enable fast & smooth switching, from horizontal, to vertical, shooting-orientation.

    Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
