Tough in design and loaded with features, the Nikon D700 DSLR camera body is a sensible choice for every passionate photographer. It is equipped with Nikon's original 12.1-MP FX-format CMOS sensor that works in conjunction with the EXPEED digital image processor to generate photos with rich details. The 51-point autofocus combines with the 3D Focus Tracking function and the exclusive Scene Recognition System to identify the position, color, tone, and characteristics of a subject, in order to facilitate an accurate autofocus. You can shoot images continuously at a burst rate of up to 5 fps.

Optics and Focus

The D700 from Nikon is designed to be used with numerous Nikon F bayonet mount lenses that offer acceptable apertures and focal lengths. The 51-point autofocus works along with the 3D Focus Tracking function and the exclusive Scene Recognition System from Nikon. They help identify the position, tone, color, and characteristics of a subject for effective autofocus. The White Balance and Exposure modes are useful in a variety of photography situations. Furthermore, the camera offers an ISO sensitivity that ranges from 100 to 25,600, and a shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second.

Sensor and Screen

The Nikon D700 features a 12.1-MP FX-format CMOS sensor, which lets you capture pictures with stunning details. Use the Dynamic Integrated Dust Reduction System for eliminating dust from the sensor. The 3-inch, super-density VGA color monitor comes with tempered-glass protection, a 170° wide viewing angle, calibrated color, and a resolution of 921,000 dots for viewing images with immense clarity. The fixed eye-level pentaprism viewfinder lets you view the display conveniently, even under sunlight.

Image and Video

The D700 captures photos at its maximum resolution of 4256 x 2832 pixels in the RAW, JPEG, and TIFF formats. The EXPEED digital image processor can process good-quality images at a high speed. You can perform continuous shooting of pictures at a burst rate of up to 5 fps. The active D-Lighting function with auto mode features a 3-phase dynamic control for capturing details that were previously lost in highlights and shadows, while simultaneously maintaining a normalized contrast.

Other Features

This camera from Nikon is equipped with a sophisticated color-control facility with 4 preset options and 9 customizable settings to fine-tune your image appearance preferences. To suit your shooting needs, you can choose from hand-held or tripod live-view shooting modes. The WiFi connectivity gives you the freedom to transfer captured content to various similarly compatible devices. Constructed from rugged magnesium-alloy, the body of this camera is resistant to dust and moisture. Powering this camera is an MB-D10 rechargeable multi-power battery pack.
