The Nikon D5300 DSLR camera produces high-resolution images and videos even in low-light conditions. It comes with the AF-S DX Nikkor 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR II lens. The camera’s imaging capabilities are powered by the 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor. With this camera, you can shoot Full HD 1080p videos at a frame rate of 60 fps and capture 6 burst shots in a second. The 3.2-inch 1037K-dot vari-angle LCD allows image composition and media playback. With the HDR function, the camera takes two images with different exposures and combines them to highlight both bright and dark details. The camera allows you to transfer images to smart devices via the built-in Wi-Fi. An EN-EL14A Li-ion battery powers this Nikon camera.

Optics and Focus

The Nikon D5300 comes with an AF-S DX Nikkor 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR II lens. Other Nikon F-mount lenses can also be attached to the camera. The lens construction comprises 11 elements in 8 groups. These elements have super integrated coating applied to them reduce ghosting and flare. The silent wave motor AF ensures a quiet and precise autofocus operation. To support handheld shooting, the lens incorporates the Nikon VR II image stabilization. The 7 rounded diaphragm blades create a smooth bokeh. In the camera's Multi-CAM 4800DX AF sensor module, there are 39 unique phase-detection points. When you switch to the video mode, the camera uses the contrast-detection AF to keep the focus fixed on the subject.

Screen and Sensor

This Nikon DSLR camera work on a 24.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor that offers high-resolution images with reduced noise. The bright pentamirror optical viewfinder provides 0.82× magnification and 95% screen coverage. Moreover, you can adjust the diopter of the viewfinder from -1.7 to +1 m. The 3.2-inch LCD screen gives a live view of the scene in 1037K-dot resolution. You can swivel the LCD to use the camera from different angles. The LCD covers 100% of the screen area and has 170° diagonal angle of view.

Image and Video

The Nikon D5300 can produce 24 MP photographs with a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 dpi in JPEG and RAW formats. Thanks to the EXPEED 4 image processor, the camera offers Full HD videos at 60 fps and continuous shots at 5 fps. With the in-camera RAW processing, you can edit the captured shots before transferring them to your PC. The Scene Auto Selector mode recognizes the scenario and adjusts the exposure setting to suit given lighting conditions. The Active D-Lighting feature retains both highlight and shadow details. There are various special effect modes and in-camera editing options included in the camera.
