The camera has a built-in exposure-metering system and an ASA sensitivity range of up to 1600. The aperture can be adjusted manually from f/1.2 to f/5.6, which allows you to capture photos in different lighting environments. A dedicated Depth-of-Field (DOF) preview button is provided in the camera. The maximum shutter speed at which this camera can click images of moving objects is 1/1000th of a second. It has a pentaprism viewfinder that displays the selected shutter speed and warns if the exposure is too high or too low. Other features in the camera include a self-timer, tripod socket, and self-resetting counter.
Optics and Focus
The Nikkormat FTN SLR camera comes with a built-in center-weighted exposure-metering system that provides meter sensitivity of EV 3–17 at ASA 100. The camera has a metal focal-plane shutter that has a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second. It allows you to click pictures of moving objects or a fast-paced event in detail. For focusing, the camera uses the focusing screen in the viewfinder, which is a matte field having a central microprism spot.
Sensor and Screen
The Nikon Nikkormat FTN SLR has an automatic aperture-recognition system that suggests the required exposure setting for the given aperture. The camera comes with an eye-level pentaprism viewfinder that has needles to indicate the shutter speed and aperture as well as low and high exposure.
