Take a break from today's digital photography and get the Nikon EM Film SLR Camera. It comes with a Nikon E 50mm f/1.8 lens, although it can also be used with other Nikon F-mount lenses. The camera uses automatic-exposure control based on aperture priority. Also, it has a center-weighted TTL metering system. The camera has a maximum ISO range of 1600 and can function with a high shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second. The viewfinder provides a 0.86× magnification and 92% screen coverage. Moreover, the Nikon K focusing screen of the viewfinder has a matte Fresnel field with central split-image rangefinder spot circled by a microprism ring. You may attach an external flash to the hot shoe of this camera. The Nikon EM film camera has additional features such as a self-timer, backlight illumination button, frame counter, and battery check.
Optics and Focus
Along with the Nikon EM Film SLR Camera, you get a Nikon E 50mm f/1.8 lens. The lens is made with six elements in five groups. Each element has a coating to minimize ghosting. The auto-exposure mode in the camera helps determine the correct setting for the shutter as per the current aperture setting. This camera has a maximum ISO of 1600 and its shutter speed can be increased to 1/1000th of a second. If the current frame has an over or under exposure, you may use the exposure-compensation button that is placed on the front.
Sensor and Screen
This Nikon film camera comes with the 0.86× viewfinder that provides a screen coverage of 92%. It has a Nikon K focusing screen that includes a matte Fresnel field and a microprism ring surrounding the central split-image rangefinder spot. Needles in the viewfinder indicate the shutter speed and warn you about high or low exposure too.
Image and Video
The Nikon EM SLR camera can be used with a 35mm film having a speed of ASA 25 to 1600. The frame counter tells you how many frames have been used by the camera. The counter also automatically resets to the initial count of 1 if the camera back is opened. A rapid winding lever, with a 144° clearance, helps advance the film.
Other Features
The Nikon EM Film camera has a self-timer function with which you can delay the shutter release by up to 10 seconds. A memo holder at the rear is useful for writing notes on the type of film used and its speed. A standard X-synch hot shoe is provided in the camera for connecting an external flash. The flash automatically syncs with the shutter at 1/90th of a second. This SLR camera runs on a single 3V lithium battery or two 1.55V silver-oxide batteries.
