The Nikon Nikomat EL SLR Camera was introduced specially for beginner photographers. It can be used with Nikon F-mount lenses and comes with the CdS cell center-weighted TTL full aperture metering. You may set the exposure to automatic mode for instant determination of the appropriate setting based on aperture priority. The camera's ISO sensitivity can be adjusted from 25 to 1600 with the selection-lock switch. The maximum shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second allows you to capture images of moving objects with absolute precision. This camera's viewfinder provides a screen coverage of 92%. It also has an X-sync hot shoe and a PC terminal for connecting bulb and electronic flash devices. Additional functions in the camera include a self-timer, frame counter, battery check, and Depth of Field (DoF) preview button.
Optics and Focus
This Nikon camera comes with an auto-exposure mode that is based on aperture priority, which helps in determining the ideal aperture and shutter speed settings depending on the scene and lighting conditions. The Nikon EL functions at a maximum ISO of 1600 and shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second. Focusing is done by using the central split-image rangefinder spot in the viewfinder.

The Nikon Nikomat EL camera's viewfinder offers a 92% screen coverage. The viewfinder also indicates the exposure mode selected and the shutter speed.
Image and Video
You may use this Nikon SLR camera with a 35mm film having a speed between ASA 25 and 1600. After each shot, the frame counter resets itself automatically. The camera wind lever, which offers a 105° advance angle and a 30° offset, can be used for advancing to the next frame.
Other Features
The Nikon EL SLR camera has a self-timer function that allows you to delay the shutter release up to 10 seconds. Additionally, the self-timer works as an exposure lock. The hot shoe and PC terminal can be used for attaching an external flash. Once the electronic flash is connected, it can be synchronized at up to 1/125th of a second. The auto-exposure mode is powered by a 6V silver-oxide battery or four SR44 batteries. There is a battery check lamp at the back of the top plate to indicate the functioning of the cell.
