The Canon Rebel T2 features various shooting modes and flexible focusing methods that are rare to see in SLR cameras. This Canon SLR comes with the EF 28–90mm f/4-5.6 III zoom lens. The camera has the full auto mode that simplifies the operation to offer simple point-and-shoot style photography. Programmed control modes such as portrait, landscape, and close-up make all the adjustment in the exposure as you select the corresponding option. The camera offers 7 AF points with its TTL-CT-SIR autofocus system. The camera has a 0.7× optical viewfinder that gives 90% frame coverage. Also, an LED screen is provided at the top that shows current camera settings. The built-in flash and hot shoe allow you use the camera in dim-lit conditions. You have to use two CR2 lithium batteries for the SLR camera.
Optics and Focus
The provided EF 28–90mm f/4-5.6 III lens allows you to take shots from both wide-angle and close-up. You can also attach other EF-mount lenses to the camera. The included lens has 10 optical elements in 8 groups. It provides a 75°-27° angle of view and can focus down to a minimum distance of 1.3 feet. The lens also provides distance information to compatible EOS cameras with E-TTL II flash operation. As for the camera, it uses the TTL full aperture metering with a 35-zone SPC cell. There are various exposure modes including the Program AE, which itself contains 7 shooting modes. The camera automatically set the film speed between ISO 25-5000 for DX-coded film rolls. You can speed up the shutter to a maximum limit of 1/4000th of a second.
Sensor and Screen
The Rebel T2 SLR has an eye-level pentamirror viewfinder with a 0.7× magnification and screen coverage of 90%. You can adjust the eyepoint diopter between -2.5 to +0.5 dpt. The viewfinder shows AF points on its superimposed screen. Other information such as shutter speed, aperture value, exposure level, and Flash is displayed at the bottom. The top LCD screen located on top of the camera body also shows the camera-related information with the addition of autofocus mode selection, battery level, and more.
Image and Video
The camera is made to use with 35mm film rolls. This camera can take up to 9 exposures on a single frame to create a unique multi-exposure effect. You can enable the red-eye removal feature when photographing people at night or in dim light. The film advance is done automatically in a single frame or continuous frames. In continuous frame mode, the camera takes 3 images sequentially. The rewind operation is also automatic and allows mid-roll rewind as well.
The camera has a built-in flash with a guide number of 13 m at ISO 100. It takes approximately 2 seconds to recycle and covers an angle of a 28mm lens. The camera also has a hot shoe for mounting an external flash. You can synchronize the flash at 1/25th of a second. With the self-timer, you can delay the shutter release up to 10 seconds. The 6 custom functions allow you to set the most used features of the camera. Two CR2 lithium batteries power this camera.
