The Canon AE-1 Chrome SLR Camera takes you back in time to experience the charm of film photography. This camera accepts Canon FD-mount lenses. It features the shutter-priority-based exposure mode. You may set the ISO limit to a maximum of 3200 and increase the shutter speed to 1/1000th of a second for fast-action sequences. This camera comes with a manual-focusing system and an exposure-preview button. A dedicated hot shoe makes it possible to mount an electronic flash on the camera. The Canon AE-1 SLR camera includes other features like lens stopped-down, exposure correction, self-timer, and multi-take up spool.
Optics and Focus
The Canon AE-1 SLR has a TTL center-weighted exposure metering with a silicon photocell. You may set the exposure mode to shutter priority, which in turn automatically adjusts the lens aperture with respect to the current shutter speed. Thanks to the AE lock, the camera prevents overexposure caused by a bright background or foreground. This film camera’s shutter functions at a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second.
Sensor and Screen
This Canon camera’s fixed eye-level pentaprism viewfinder covers 93.5% area of the scene at hand on the vertical axis and 96% on the horizontal axis. In the viewfinder, you can also find relevant information like aperture, metering needle, and stopped-down metering index.
Image and Video
This old-style film camera from Canon uses 35mm film rolls for capturing photographs. You may set the film speed between ASA 25 and 3200. The single-stroke advance lever has 120° throw and 30° stand-off angles. The frame counter increments itself after each exposure and resets to the initial count once the camera back is opened.
Other Features
The AE-1 film camera from Canon comes with a hot shoe for attaching an electronic flash or a bulb, which can be synchronized with the shutter at 1/60th and 1/30th of a second, respectively. A flash terminal at the front can be used for connecting cord-type flash devices. On activation of the self-timer, you can delay the shutter release by up to 10 seconds. You may cancel the self-timer by depressing the battery check. This film camera is powered by a single 6V silver-oxide battery.
