Overview

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R Full Frame Digital Mirrorless Camera features latest updates in this new incarnation. Its lens mount is compatible with various L-mount lenses. The 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor delivers high-resolution imagery while restricting noise at high ISO. It powers the camera to shoot videos in 4K up to a stunning frame rate of 60 fps. This Panasonic mirrorless body also provides 6K burst shooting and HLG photo capture for limitless creative possibilities. The built-in image stabilizer works with the L-mount lenses having image stabilization to offer dual IS performance up to 6 stops. As for the autofocus performance, it is handled by the DFD technology to ensure fast response whether shooting a video or taking continuous shots at 9 fps. The OLED live viewfinder and 3.2-inch triaxial tilting LCD provide convenience when positioning the camera for your perfect shot. You can trigger the camera remotely or transfer photo by linking the camera to your mobile via the integrated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

Optics and Focus

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R can work with L-mount lenses. In this new version, the S1R brings the DFD autofocus technology that offers a fast response in 0.08 seconds. It benefits both photo and video applications in low light conditions down to -6EV with the Low Light AF marks. The inclusion of the Face and Eye Detection functions ensures accuracy when taking portrait shots. Moreover, the Advanced AI Technology recognizes moving subjects even when their back is turned to the camera. The mechanical shutter mechanism boasts a lifespan of 400000 images approximately.

Sensor and Screen

The LUMIX S1R can perform in low light conditions with ease thanks to its 47.3 MP MOS sensor. As the low pass filter is discarded from the sensor structure, it ensures high-resolution pictures with great detail. Additionally, an aspherical lens is adapted on top of the sensor to improve light condensation. The sensor also features an AR coating to control ghosting and flare when shooting back-lit subjects. You can compose the scene with the 3.2-inch rear LCD that has a triaxial tilting design for convenience. The OLED live viewfinder provides 5760k-dot resolution view of the scene as well as prevents lag during fast pan or tilt movement with its refresh rate of 120 fps.

Image and Video

This Panasonic mirrorless camera offers still photos in a maximum resolution of 8368×4712 pixels. You can select the RAW format for fine-tuning the picture look in an image editing software or set the capture format to JPEG for instant image transfer. The sRGB and AdobeRGB allow seamless integration with various professional photo tools. Switch to the video mode to record in 4K resolution at 60 fps to create slow-motion effects for B-rolls. The 6K burst photo capture has a maximum speed of 30 fps, while the 4K continuous burst capture can extract photos from a 60 fps file. The new AWBw mode ensures the keeps the reddish tint of the skin intact when shooting in low light.

Other Features

The integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity allow you to transfer photos from the camera to your smartphone. Also, the wireless function lets you copy settings of the camera to multiple linked S1R cameras. The dual memory card slots are provided by keeping the requirement of a professional working environment in mind. You can plug an external microphone and headphones into dedicated audio input and output ports. The USB port lets you tether the camera with your workstation. This mirrorless camera body runs on a 3100 mAh Li-ion battery pack.
