Inspiring a new level of photographic creativity with the Nikon D5500 DSLR Camera Body. It is equipped with a 24.2 MP Nikon DX format sensor that gives you the freedom to capture photos with modest detail, color accuracy, dynamic range, and a low-light sensitivity of up to ISO 25,600. The EXPEED 4 Processor helps in processing images and videos at a high rate of speed and quality. The Multi-CAM 4800DX autofocus system employs 39 distinct AF points and nine cross-type sensors quickly to acquire focus in a wide range of lighting conditions. Furthermore, transfer videos and images to either an iOS or an Android mobile device via the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app with the camera’s WiFi connectivity.

Optics and Focus

The Nikon D5500 DSLR camera is designed to accommodate all Nikon F-mount lenses with good apertures and focal lengths. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 25,600, and the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/4000 of a second. The Multi-CAM 4800DX autofocus system employs 39 distinct AF points and nine cross-type sensors to quickly acquire focus in a wide range of lighting conditions. Use the numerous White Balance and Exposure modes for assisting in a large variety of shooting situations. The Exposure Metering function and Scene Recognition system help in shooting pictures with a consistent exposure and white balance.

Sensor and Screen

The D5500 DSLR camera from Nikon is equipped with a 24.2 MP Nikon DX format sensor that gives you the freedom to capture photos with modest detail, color accuracy, dynamic range, and low-light sensitivity. The 3.2-inch Vari-Angle LCD Touchscreen has a resolution of 1037 k dots for viewing your captured content with optimum clarity. Since it swivels at an 180° angle, you can use it for working from low, high, and front-facing angles. The Pentamirror viewfinder comes in handy for situations where certain outdoor lighting conditions make it complicated to use the LCD screen.

Image and Video

The Nikon D5500 is capable of capturing videos at a Full HD 1080p resolution at 60 fps in the MOV format, along with pictures at its highest resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels in formats such as RAW and JPEG. The EXPEED 4 Processor helps in processing images and videos at a high rate of speed and quality. You can shoot pictures continuously at a burst rate of up to 5 fps.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: ISO 100-25,600
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.

Exposure Compensation: +/-5 EV in increments of 1/3 or 1/2 EV
Exposure Compensation:
Refers to the option for the user to override the internal light meter in the camera to either OVER or UNDER expose based on middle/18% gray. This is especially useful when photographing either extremely white/bright scenes or when in very dark/dimly lit scenarios.
