Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

OVERVIEW

THIS IS A USED ITEM
IMAGES ARE FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY
Condition: Excellent

The Sony Alpha a7R III Mirrorless Camera delivers improved imaging performance with its 42.4 MP Full-Frame Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor. This camera can be used with Sony E-mount lenses. The BIONZ X image processor works with the front end LSI to boost the processing speed and produce a 15-stop dynamic range in low light conditions. The Sony Alpha a7R III provides UHD 4K videos at a frame rate of 30 fps. There are 399 phase detection and 425 contrast detection points in the updated Fast Hybrid AF system to deliver accurate focus and subject tracking. The 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system reduces the effects of camera shakes. With the S-Log2 and S-Log3 gamma setting, you can add LUTs during post-production for adjusting the video look. The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permit image transfer and remote control.

OPTICS AND FOCUS

This Sony camera works with Sony E-mount lenses. The Fast Hybrid AF system is updated, and it includes 399 phase detection points that cover 68% of the imaging area. Additionally, there are 425 contrast detection points to provide accurate and quick subject tracking. The focusing system has a working capability down to -3 EV. With the wide ISO of 50–102400, the camera can be used in various lighting conditions. Increase the shutter up to 1/8000th of a second for taking crisp shots of fast-moving objects.

SENSOR AND SCREEN

This mirrorless camera takes advantage of the 42.4 MP full-frame Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor to produce vibrant imagery. The gapless on-chip lens design and an anti-reflection coating improve light collection to enhance image detail. Also, the low-pass filter is omitted from the sensor design to boost the image sharpness. You can tilt the 3-inch, 1440K-dot touchscreen LCD to use the camera from a high or low angle. The OLED Tru-Finder provides a 3.69m-dot resolution with a 0.78× magnification of the scene. The LCD, as well as the OLED Tru-Finder, offers 100% screen coverage.

IMAGE AND VIDEO

The camera captures images with a maximum resolution of 7952×5304 dpi. You can click pictures in JPEG format for quick image sharing, or shoot them in RAW format to adjust their dynamic range in a photo editing software. The BIONZ X image processor enhances the processing time to ensure a lag-free performance during 4K video recording and 10 fps continuous shooting. Also, the image processor collaborates with the high-speed front-end LSI to boost the processing speed and offer a 15-stop dynamic range in low light. You can also record slow motion Full HD videos at 120 fps. The S-Log2 and S-Log3 gamma functions allow you add LUTs in post-production for adjusting the gamma, black level, knee, and color.

OTHER FEATURES

The Sony a7R III features a built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to transfer images to smartphones. Enable the NFC support to control the camera remotely via a smartphone. The hot shoe is provided to mount an electronic flash, while the PC terminal lets you connect strobe packs or wireless radio remotes to the camera. With the enhanced Zebra function, you can easily identify the overexposed parts in a scene. The proxy recording function saves your time when editing videos in a software. The camera chassis is built from magnesium alloy and has weather sealing to facilitate working in harsh weather. On the fully-charged 2280 mAh NP-FZ100 Li-ion battery, the camera can take approximately 530 shots.
