The Canon EOS-1D X Digital SLR Camera is an ideal pick for a professional photographer. It can be used with Canon lenses having an EF-mount system. This full-frame camera has an 18.1 MP CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC 5+ processors. The camera comes with a 61-point High-Density Reticular AF system that can be controlled through a dedicated tab provided. Additionally, a separate DIGIC 4 processor has been assigned to the 100K-pixel RGB metering sensor. The camera records videos in full HD with a resolution 1920×1080 dpi at 30 fps and 720p videos at 60 fps. It comes with a dust-resistant magnesium-alloy body that makes it suitable for use in inclement weather.

Optics and Focus

This camera from Canon is designed with a 61-point High-Density Reticular AF system that offers quick and precise autofocusing. It provides 5 central-dual, 21 central, and 20 outer cross-type points. Also, this AF system can focus on objects in dim lights, up to EV-2. An AF-configuration tool is included in the camera, allowing you to manage the AI Servo AF III tracking parameters. The camera has a high ISO sensitivity of 204800 and clicks images at a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second.

Sensor and Screen

An 18.1 MP CMOS sensor is built into this Canon camera, which works with the Dual DIGIC 5+ image processors to capture images having vivid colors and clarity, even in low-light conditions. For in-depth exposure metering, this camera uses the EOS iSA (Intelligent Subject Analysis) system, which determines the right amount of brightness required in the image by applying color-recognition and face-detection methods. You may also control the ISO range using the dedicated menu provided on the camera’s user interface. The camera has a pentaprism viewfinder that provides 100% coverage of the scene. The viewfinder provides a magnification of 0.76× and diopter adjustment range of -3.0 to +1.0 m. Moreover, the 3.2-inch LCD screen offers reflection-free viewing and assists when shooting in the Live Mode. This screen’s resolution stands at 1,040,000 dots.

Image and Video

When it comes to photo captures, the Canon EOS-1D X Digital SLR camera delivers 14-bit images with a maximum resolution of 5184×3456 dpi in both RAW and JPEG formats. The camera also works intelligently as a video recorder, offering 1080p videos at 30 fps and 720p videos at 60 fps. To eliminate chromatic anomalies caused by attached lenses, the Lens Aberration Correction feature is added in the camera.

Other Features

This Canon DSLR camera has a customizable interface that lets you make adjustments in the settings in a split second. You may share images and videos online using the Gigabit Ethernet terminal and WFT-E6A wireless file transmitter. This camera comes with a hot shoe for attaching an external Speedlite eTTL flash. There are different flash modes provided in the camera and a PC terminal that syncs flash unit voltage up to 250 V. The camera has a dust-resistant body made of magnesium alloy that makes it convenient to use the camera in harsh weather conditions. It runs on an LP-E4N rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: Automatically set, ISO 100-51200 (in 1/3-stop or 1-stop increments) Basic Zone modes: ISO 100-51200 set automatically Extension settable: ISO 50; 102,400 and 204,800
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.

Exposure Compensation: Manual: ±5 stops in 1/3- or 1/2-stop increments AEB: ±3 stops in 1/3- or 1/2-stop increments
Exposure Compensation:
Refers to the option for the user to override the internal light meter in the camera to either OVER or UNDER expose based on middle/18% gray. This is especially useful when photographing either extremely white/bright scenes or when in very dark/dimly lit scenarios.
