Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

Compact design housing high-definition imaging capabilities make the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 Digital Camera ideal for vacations and short trips. It comes with a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* f/1.8–4.9 Lens that provides sharp results in variable lighting conditions. The camera has a 20.1 MP 1-inch Exmor CMOS sensor that works with the BIONZ image processor to deliver brilliant image quality even in low light. Furthermore, the image processor contributes to the fast autofocus performance as well as 10 fps continuous shooting. The Optical SteadyShot feature cuts down the effects of camera shakes for eliminating blur in the image. Compose the scene with the 3.0-inch Xtra Fine LCD. The customizable function gives quick access to your frequently used feature.

Optics and Focus

The Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 from Sony is armed with a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens, which has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 28–100mm. The adjustable aperture range varies from f/1.8 to 4.9. Its optical design uses 7 elements in 6 groups and provides 3.6× optical and 7.2× digital zoom. You can increase the shutter speed up to 1/2000th of a second and the native ISO sensitivity up to 6400. Moreover, the ISO can reach further up to 25600. The camera includes four focus modes. Apart from AF-S and AF-C modes, you can use the Direct Manual Focus option to acquire autofocus on an object and then adjust the focus parameter manually. Switch on the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to reduce camera shake for blur-free photos and videos.

Sensor and Screen

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 shoots images and videos using the 20.1 MP 1-inch Exmor CMOS sensor. It provides fast and accurate color recognition to produce realistic images. Additionally, the sensor's advanced column A/D processing brings down image noise. The 3.0-inch Xtra Fine LCD screen offers a 1229K-dot resolution for viewing captured media and accessing menus with optimum clarity. Additionally, the LCD features WhiteMagic technology that automatically adjusts the brightness when you move to a bright or dark area.

Image and Video

This Sony digital camera captures images in JPEG and RAW format at its highest resolution of 5472×3648 pixels. You can capture Full 1080p videos at 60 fps for creating smooth slow motions in the post-production stage. The BIONZ image processor supports the video mode as well as the continuous burst rate of 10 fps. With the Auto Portrait Framing, the camera analyzes the photo using the Face Detection and By Pixel Super Resolution technologies, while considering the rule of thirds to create perfect image compositions. The camera features different creative effects such as Toy Camera and Watercolor Painting to produce unique results every time. With the Intelligent Scene Recognition, the camera identifies up to 22 types of scenes for photos, and 44 presents for videos, and then makes adjustments in the image settings.

Other Features

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 allows image transfer to a smart device via its built-in Wi-Fi. With the pop-up flash, you can take well-illuminated pictures in low light. The seven customizable functions give instant access to frequently used features of the camera. You may select the memory recall button to load user-defined settings instantly. The camera chassis is made of robust aluminum to ensure durability. This Sony digital camera runs on an NP-BX1 rechargeable Li-ion battery pack.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
