Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

With its sophisticated technology and improved operability, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III is a must-have digital camera for every professional photographer. It features a 20.1 MP 1.0-type stacked CMOS sensor with a DRAM chip, which works in conjunction with the BIONZ X high-speed image-processing engine for delivering a high image quality and a fast readout speed. The newly developed ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* high-magnification zoom lens offers an impressive focal length of 24 mm-600 mm and a large aperture of f/2.4 - 4, which offers a 25x optical zoom for a high contrast and sharpness across the entire zoom range. The fast intelligent AF comes in handy for capturing critical moments. Also, you can perform high-quality 4K recording at a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels and other various movie functions for a professional workflow.

Optics and Focus

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III digital camera is equipped with the newly developed ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* high-magnification zoom lens that offers an impressive focal length of 24 mm-600 mm and a large aperture of f/2.4 - 4. The 25x optical zoom is capable of providing a high contrast and sharpness across the entire zoom range. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 25,600, whereas the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to an incredible 1/32,000th of a second. The fast intelligent AF comes in handy for capturing critical moments. Whenever you need to capture pictures silently, you can mute the sound of the camera’s electronic shutter.

Sensor and Screen

The Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III digital camera from Sony features a 20.1 MP 1.0-type stacked CMOS sensor with a DRAM chip for capturing high-quality photos with a stunning attention to detail. The 3-inch multi-angle TFT LCD screen comes with a resolution of 1,228,800 dots for viewing your captured content and browsing menus with ease. The Bright XGA OLED Tru-Finder viewfinder is useful for bright lighting conditions where it becomes difficult to use the screen.

Image and Video

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III shoots images at its highest resolution of 5472 x 3648 pixels in the JPEG and RAW formats. It can also record high-quality 4K recording at a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels in the XAVC S, MP4, and AVCHD Ver.2.0 compatible formats. The BIONZ X image processing engine processes images at a high rate of speed without sacrificing on quality. For a more creative expression, this camera can perform ultra telephoto super slow motion photo capturing at a frame rate of up to 960 fps. In addition, you can capture still images continuously at a burst rate of up to 14 fps. Use the optical SteadyShot image stabilization function with a 4.5-stop faster shutter effect for shooting blur-free images with little effort.

Other Features

The Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III from Sony comes with inbuilt Wi-Fi and NFC facilities that enable you to link the camera with an iOS or Android smartphone by using the PlayMemories mobile app. Made from a highly rigid magnesium alloy material, this camera is resistant to moisture and dust so that it ensures heavy-duty performance even in rough weather. Powering this camera is an NP-FW50 rechargeable battery pack.

Built-in Diopter:
Built in mechanism to adjust the viewfinder clarity to an individual's eyesight. While adjusting the diopter does not directly affect the focus of the camera, images will be out of focus if manually focusing when the diopter has been adjusted, for example, to fit the needs of someone who has imperfect eyesight. The built-in diopter is usually found right next to the viewfinder on a camera in the form of a small dial or slider switch.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: Still images: ISO 100-12800 (1/3 step) (expandable to ISO 64/80), Auto (ISO 100-12800, selectable with upper/lower limit) , Multi-Frame NR: ISO 100-25600*3 (1 EV step), Auto (ISO 100-12800); Movie: ISO 100-12800 equivalent (1/3 EV step), AUTO (ISO 100-12800 equivalent, selectable lower limit and upper limit)
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.

Exposure Compensation: +/- 3.0 EV, 1/3 EV step
Exposure Compensation:
Refers to the option for the user to override the internal light meter in the camera to either OVER or UNDER expose based on middle/18% gray. This is especially useful when photographing either extremely white/bright scenes or when in very dark/dimly lit scenarios.
