Overview

Complete with a 4.5 to 157.5mm wide angle to telephoto lens and a 20.4MP 1/2.3 type Super HAD CCD sensor, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H300 is the perfect way to capture life's fleeting moments. Its refined black color lends it a very contemporary look. It can record high-quality photos and amazing videos at a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. With the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system, this camera smoothens out the image blurs and jitters caused by camera shakes. This enables you to shoot sharp photos even when you are on the move or are zooming in on your subject. Measuring 127.5 x 89.0 x 91.7 mm and weighing merely 590 g even when loaded with the battery and memory stick, this high-end digital camera can be easily carried around on all your travel expeditions.

Optics and Focus

The DSC-H300 comes with a 4.5 to 157.5mm lens which lets you capture stunning close-up portrait photos as well as super wide angle shots. With an ISO range of 80 to 3200, this camera lets you record clear images even under a variety of lighting conditions. The advanced autofocus system of this digital camera provides you with multiple options to choose from. You have Multi-Point, Center-Weighted, Spot, and Flexible Spot AF modes at your disposal. Thanks to the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system, your images will be devoid of image blurs caused by camera shakes. This results in clear and sharp photos when shooting as you are zooming in or when you are walking.

Sensor and Screen

The large 1/2.3 type Super HAD CCD sensor records images with such clarity and detail that you can resize and crop the images for different compositions without losing image clarity. This sensor unit has approximately 20.4 million gross and 20.1 million effective pixels. The camera also features a 7.5 cm ClearPhoto TFT LCD screen that has a resolution of 460,000 pixels. The brightness of this screen can be adjusted by up to 5 levels depending on the surrounding light. This LCD screen on the rear of the camera lets you view your captured photos and videos, and make changes to the camera settings by accessing the menu.

Image and Video

The DSC-H300 digital camera lets you effortlessly record high-definition movies and images. It can shoot videos at a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. Thanks to a maximum shutter speed of 1/1,500 seconds, you can shoot clear images of fast moving objects without any image blur. The Panorama shooting mode of this camera lets you capture wide sweeping shots, which makes it suitable for landscape or group photography. For adding a creative touch to your photos, you can shoot them using the built in filter effects such as Toy Camera, Soft High-Key, Partial Color, and Pop Color.

ISO Speed: Still Image: Auto(80/100/200/400/800/1600/3200), Movie: Auto(ISO200-1600 Level)
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.
