Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

Rarely has one come across a camera possessing the caliber of the Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16 to 50 mm Lens. The silver color of this camera lends it a contemporary look. It showcases a 24.3 MP APS-C-sized Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, offering users with high resolution images and full HD movies with marked low-light quality and sensitivity up to ISO 25600. The camera boasts one of the world's fastest auto focus systems, with 179 AF points and 11FPS. On first notes, the camera is a super-compact mirrorless camera, which is considerably lighter and smaller than your usual DSLR, and yet, it is equipped with the same size APS-C sensor as most DSLRs. It incorporates both an electronic viewfinder and a large rear LCD monitor.

Optics and Focus

The Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera comes with a Sony E-Type lens mount. Along with E-type lenses, you can use Sony A-mount and Minolta/Konica Minolta Maxxum lenses using the LA-EA adapter (sold separately). The interchangeable lens system and E-Type mount makes it an extremely versatile camera. Considerable note must be given to its enhanced Fast Hybrid autofocus system that merges 179-point densely placed phase-detection AF with extremely accurate 25-point contrast-detection AF that is hastened through a new Spatial Object Detection algorithm to achieve among the fastest autofocusing performance at just 0.06 seconds.

Sensor and Display

The Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera gives users a 24.3MP APS-C-sized Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor that simultaneously perform to bring about higher resolution and well-detailed images. The imagery is processed with minimal noise and notable low-light quality and sensitivity to ISO 25600. By using a gapless on-chip lens design, the camera fills the gaps between neighboring pixels with optimized lens and produces edge-to-edge sharpness and quality. The processor also offers a wealth of speed throughout the camera system that includes Fast Hybrid AF, a top continuous shooting rate of 11 fps, and full HD 1080i/p video recording at numerous frame rates. It is integrated with the Tru-Finder 0.39 inch 1,440k-dot OLED EVF that uses a sophisticated optical system to provide 100-percent frame coverage and a wide 33 degree viewing angle for clearer edge-to-edge viewing. The viewfinder shows users what will appear in the recordings, including camera effect settings. This lets you adjust your images in realtime. The 3.0 inch 921k-dot rear Xtra Fine monitor is a larger alternative, appropriate for making accurate compositions, reviewing imagery, and navigating the menu system. Additionally, WhiteMagic technology works to boost the overall brightness of the screen during bright or sunlit conditions.

Images and Video

The camera’s full HD 1080i/p video recording capability is sustained at both 60 and 24 fps frame rates, thereby enabling you to shoot higher resolution movies with a smooth, cinematic look. The videos are recorded using the high-quality AVCHD codec. At the same time, 1440 x 1080 and 640 x 480 recording resolutions are also supported in the Internet-friendly MP4 format. The camera can record still images at a maximum resolution of 6,000 x 4,000 at an aspect ratio of 3:2.

Other Features

The camera’s creative style settings provide control over how the camera processes images. They are based on six different styles - Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset, and B&W. Built-in WiFi enables you to instantly share images to mobile devices for direct sharing online to social networking, via email, and to cloud storage sites. Even NFC (Near Field Communication) is supported on the camera, thus allowing users to share images between the camera and compatible mobile devices.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: Stills: ISO 100-25,600 selectable in 1/3 EV steps, Still Auto: ISO 100-25,000 selectable upper and lower limit, Movies: ISO 100-12,800 selectable in 1 EV steps, Movie Auto ISO 200-12,800 selectable upper and lower limit
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.
